Winter Dishcloth Topic #5

Monday, February 18, 2008
Here's the week's Dishcloth Exchange topic:
If money were no object, and the day was just perfect - not to hot, not too cold, sun shining, slight breeze - how would you spend a perfect day out that had been given to you in the middle of a cold and blustery winter?
I have to admit, I'm really boring. I'd probably go to the zoo! The NC Zoo was one of the first natural habitat zoos - and the topic of a famous spat between Sen. Helms and the citizenry of Chapel Hill* - and is located in the rolling Uwharrie Mountains. I love the zoo. In the winter it's particularly nice - no school groups or other crazy crowds. We went last year on New Year's Eve - it was 68F - and had the giraffe/zebra/ostritch outlook all to ourselves. Of course, the DD loves the zoo too, so this is a win-win for us all. And, we're members - so we get in free.

My second choice would be to have an impromptu yard party - invite over various friends for a potluck/grillout late lunch/early dinner and just enjoy the day. And third choice would be to just hang out in the backyard - with my knitting, of course!

*The exchange, as it is in oral tradition in CHill:
Sen. Helms: Why do we need to build a new zoo in North Carolina? We should just build a fence around Chapel Hill!
Chapel Hill: Which side of the fence is the zoo on?

(har, har)
