Seedy Ribby Checked Cloth

Friday, July 27, 2007
This reversible, small-scale cloth has a lovely waffle-weave texture that is perfect for bathing a small child. The basic two-row pattern is shifted every three repeats to create the interesting texture. The pattern is the "Seeded Rib Check" from Barbara Walker's 2nd Treasury (man I love those books).

Finished dimensions: 7" (18cm) square

Materials:
1/2 skein Lily Sugar & Cream (100% Cotton) - worsted weight
US 7 (4.5mm) needles
Darning needle

Instructions:
Cast on 31 stitches

Row 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12: K3; (P1; K3) repeat to end
Row 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11: K1; (P1; K3) repeat to last two sts; P1; K1

Work pattern four times total.
Bind off in pattern.

Note: It helped me to think of the pattern thus: Row 1 - Row 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1, repeat three more times. This may confuse you further; if so, I apologize.
